The Ministry of Aviation says it will continue to implement the Aviation Sector Roadmap until the country assumes its rightful position in global air transportation.
Minister of Aviation Sen. Hadi Sirika disclosed this while defending the Ministry’s 2021 Budget Proposal before the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation.
Sen. Sirika explained that the government since 2015 had been implementing the Roadmap that includes providing a National Carrier for the country, aimed at driving the Aviation Sector to meet global standards.
He expressed concern that the COVID-19 pandemic hindered the implementation of 2020 Budget and that efforts were being made to reduce the impact of the pandemic on the economy.
The Ministry proposed about ₦79 billion as capital budget for 2021 with emphasis on implementing the Aviation Roadmap through Public Private Partnership arrangement.
Chairman of the committee, Mr. Nnoli Nnaji reiterated the committee’s commitment to partner with the ministry in making the Nigerian Aviation sector more robust and to be one of the best in Africa.
