Nigerian female athlete, Blessing Okagbare was disqualified on Monday after a false start in the women’s 100 metres semi-finals heat 1 at the on-going 12th African Games in Rabat,Morocco .
Okagbare who had earlier won heat 3 in the first round with a time of 11.53 seconds was hugely disappointed with her disqualification.
“This is disappointing. I was already looking forward to appearing in the final, but this is disappointing,” she said.
Cote d’Ivoire’s Marie Ta Lou won the heat with a time of 11.36 secs, while Kenya’s Maxmila Imali finished second with 11.71 secs.
The 2008 Olympics women’s long jump bronze medalist is Nigeria’s main hope of securing gold in the women’s 100 metres .
