African Football Legends Play For Ambode In Lagos

An array of African football legends were in Lagos over the weekend to play a testimonial match in honour of outgoing Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode at Agege Stadium.

The game featured several retired African football stars, against their Nigerian counterparts.

The African stars included former African Footballer of the Year, El Hadji Diouf, Stephen Appiah, Titi Camara, Khalou Fadiga, Lomana Lualua and Seydou Keita.

While the Nigerian side had goalkeepers Peter Rufai  and Ike Shorunmu as well as Jay Jay Okocha, Mutiu Adepoju, Uche Okechukwu, Garba Lawal, Daniel Amokachi, Tijani Babangida,Nwankwo Kanu, Augustine Eguavoen, Julius Aghahowa and Obafemi Martins.

The African stars were coached by Fanny Amun while the Nigerian side were coached by Jo Bonfere of the 96 Olympics fame.

The highly entertaining match ended 4-4.

The African Stars goal scorers were Titi Camara and El Hadji Diouf who both scored a brace, while Kanu Nwankwo, Garba Lawal, Obafemi Martins and Ayo Makun scored for Nigerian stars.
