Bayelsa Guber: PDP candidate, Diri wins own LGA

The Bayelsa governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Duoye Diri, has defeated his main rival, David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his local government.

The PDP candidate polled 15,360 votes while Lyon scored 8,934 votes from Kolokuma Opokuma local government of the state.

The LGA collation officer, Elizabeth Egbochukwu announced the election result at about 2:15 p.m. at the local government headquarters in Kaiama town.

Kolokuma Opokuma is one of the eight local government areas that make up Bayelsa state.
