The Federal High Court in Abuja has commanded for the immediate release of Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters, the Premium times reported.
According to the report, the court made the order after saying on Tuesday that there was no law in action to keep Mr Sowore’s in further detention by the State Security Service.
However, the court while giving Mr Sowore the condition of dropping his international passport within 48 hours after release, ordered that Femi Falana, his lawyer would be responsible for his presence in court till he is notify of his charges reported the media publication.
The judge, Taiwo Taiwo spoked on the continuous detention: “The order of the court has expired. It has not been renewed and cannot be renewed in view of the motion ex-parte earlier withdrawn.”
“The liberty of all Nigerians high or low, poor or rich is guaranteed by the constitution. It’s for this end that I’m of the view that the defendant ought to be released forthwith.”
