Deontay Wilder knocks out Luis Ortiz to retain his WBC heavyweight title

Deontay Wilder

Deontay Wilder knocked out Luis Ortiz in the 7th round to defend his WBC heavyweight title for the tenth time.

When it all seemed like there was no way out for the champion as he was dominated and out-boxed right to the six rounds. Wilder stunned Ortiz in the 7th round with his right fist to clinch the wining and retain his title.

Ortiz carried a feeling of frustration having failed to beat the 10 count despite having the fight in his control.

Wilder remarked that rematch with Tyson will be set for February after which he would be looking forward to a unification bout.

“The heavyweight division is too small to have so many belts lingering around, there should be one champion and I think I am the perfect man for that job.” added Wilder.
