D’Tigress retain Afrobasket title over Senegal

Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’Tigress defeated Senegal 60-55 to retain the Afrobasket title they won two years ago in Bamako, Mali.

The reigning champion showed their class at the Dakar Arena, where they out played their host in front of about 15,000 fans to replete the two years ago victory over Senegal.

D’Tigress have became the first team to win back-to-back FIBA Women’s AfroBasket titles since Angola triumph in 2011 and 2013 championship.

With Sunday’s feat, D’Tigress have now won the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket title for the fourth time.

President Muhammadu Buhari joined the rest of the nation to congratulate the champion when he took to twitter to sent out a congratulatory message to the team. 

Congratulations, @DtigressNG. African Champions again! You have risen to the occasion, and conquered the continent one more time,”
