Enyimba, the People’s Elephant on Sunday went extra mile to savage a place in the next round of the CAF Chnpions League tournament by beating Rahimo 5-0 in Aba.
Two weeks after suffering a 0-1 loss at Ouagadougou, the team required only two goals to move on to the next stage.
Onon Issouf of Rahimo got a red card in the early hour of the game, followed by a goal from Reuben Bala at the 32nd mins.
With pressure by the home team to secure a win, the second goal came in 47th mins of the second half from Okorom Stanley.
With the aggregate 2-1 in favour of Enyimba Stanley Dimgba push the lead forward at the 80th min.
6 mins later Bala made it 4 – 0 completely killing the spirit of the visitors. But more was still to come as Dimgba found the net at stoppage time of the game to make it 5-0.
With a 5-1 aggregate win over their opponents from Burkina Faso, Enyimba has advanced into next round of the Champions League.
The second qualifying round is set to take place on the weekends of September 13 and 27, as Enyimba will face Al Hilal of Sudan.
