Babatunde Fashola, the minister of Works and Housing has rejected a Facebook account set up in his name.
Fashola gave this warning to the public in a statement via his Special Adviser on Communications, Hakeen Bello, that the fake account was opened by fraudsters.
He went on to state his verified Facebook account as @BABATUNDEFASHOLA.
All posted messages on the fake account which read in part: “Call Mr Adebayo Kola
Bello quoted the minister as describing the activities of the scammers as “unfortunate”, wondering why people still fall prey to scammers “in spite of repeated warnings and disclaimers”.
The statement said that ” the warning became necessary in view of the increasing activities of fraudsters and advised members of the public to always clarify with the appropriate agencies of government before engaging in any dealing with people purportedly working for them.
Bello urged the public to report to law enforcement agencies those involved in this act so that justice can be done.
