The Gombe State House of Assembly on Tuesday impeached Deputy Speaker, Hon. Shuaibu Haruna.
Hon. Adamu Pata, member representing Yamaltu East; moved the motion to impeach the former deputy Speaker and was seconded by the member representing Billiri West, Tulfugut Kardi.
Twenty-one out of the 24-member Gombe State House of Assembly supported Haruna’s impeachment move without giving any reason.
The embattled deputy Speaker was replaced by the member representing Kwami West, Sidi Buba.
According to Punch, sources at the assembly complex speculated that Haruna attended the swearing-in ceremony for commissioners, after the lawmakers agreed to boycott all state executive functions.
It was also gathered that Haruna was alleged to be “more loyal” to Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya than the State Assembly leadership.
