Seven aspirants of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who were seeking for party ticket to run for kogi state governorship election have stepped down.
This recent development came after a close door meeting with some party members and the aspirants.
It was concluded at the end meeting that there was no need for everyone from the area to contest, but that they should close ranks and support an experienced aspirant.
The aspirants, who decided to support Captain Idris Wada are as follows: AVM Salihu Atawodi, Muhammed Tetes, Emmanuel Omebije, Grace Iye Adejor, Dr Victor Adoji.
These names were read out by the spokesperson for the Kogi East Elders Council (KEEC), Arc Gabriel Aduku. Aduku revealed that there was a meeting between the elders and nine governorship aspirants from the area.
At the end of the meeting, he said, seven aspirants agreed to step down for Wada. Aduku argued that Wada has only one term and it should be an opportunity to complete his tenure as governor of the state.
