Mugabe to be buried in national monument

Former president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe will be buried the National Heroes Acre in the capital, Harare on Sunday.

Mugabe’s nephew and family’s spokesman, Leo Mugabe made this disclosure on Friday.

He said “I can confirm that he will be buried at the National Heroes Acre on Sunday.”

According to Reuters, he added that an official ceremony would be followed by a private family event at the monument to heroes of the liberation war against white minority rule.

Some of Mugabe’s relatives have pushed for him to be buried in his home village because of the way he was ousted from power by former comrades including President Mnangagwa.

The body of Mugabe, who died aged 95 in Singapore arrived Zimbabwe on Wednesday, September 11.

The three days lying in state commenced on Thursday while the state funeral planned for the country’s National Sports Stadium will hold on Saturday .
