The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has ruled himself out from contesting for the Anambra governorship election in 2021.
The former Anambra governor stated this in Obosi while reacting to speculation that he is getting prepared for the 2021 Anambra governorship election.
Ngige, who spoke with Punch correspondent described the story as fake.
“That is not possible again. By 2021, I will be too old for that. So, you can see with me that is no longer plausible” he said.
He however said that the All Progressives Congress is well prepared and ready for the 2021 Anambra governorship race.
He said “Nothing will stop us this time from capturing the state in that election. We’re prepared and we’re ready.”
“I just drove round the state; the only good roads you can ply in Anambra State were those built by me. It has become clear to our people that they need people like us to be happy once more.
“The APC will provide that happiness; we shall provide purposeful and responsive governance to our people once more in 2021.”
Ngige also said for equity sake, the ideal thing to do is to zone the governorship to Anambra South Senatorial District.
“We have no zoning arrangement in APC, but I think the most ideal thing to do is to allow Anambra South Senatorial District to produce the next governor of the state for equity’s sake,” he said.
