Shiite protesters clash with police in Bauchi




Police arrest Shiites memebers in Abuja.

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria popularly known as Shi’ites clashed during a protest with the Nigeria Police Force in Bauchi State.

The Punch reports that the incident was said to have occurred about 10am on Tuesday at the Central Market Roundabout and Tashan Babiye area of the state capital.

Eyewitnesses say that several people were injured as many scampered to safety when the police reportedly fired teargas and gunshots to restore calmness.

Most shops were reportedly shut as traders immediately closed their shops and ran for their lives.
