Valencia defeat Barcelona 2-1 to win their 8 Copa del Rey title on Saturday, ending the Spanish champions’ four-year winning streak in the competition and denying them a domestic double.

Goals from Kevin Gameiro and Rodrigo Moreno gave Marcelino‘s dominant Valencia control in the first half of the final in Benito Villamarin stadium.

Record 30-times Cup winners Barcelona struggled with the lost of their injured forwards Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele and goal keeper Marc – Andre ter Stegen. Effort from Lionel Messi 73rd-minute goal to bring the Catalans back into the game was not enough.

But despite heavy Barcelona pressure in the last 10 minutes Valencia survived and celebrated immensely at the final whistle.
